The proof reel — real sessions

SUGGESTION — 60–90s montage from real sessions on this exact topic: struggle → coaching moment → the same player succeeding. Session audio, no hype music.

"I want to go pro." Great. What are you training on Tuesday?

Every ambitious player has the dream. Almost none have the Tuesday. The gap between 'I want it' and a season that builds toward it is a plan small enough to actually run — not a spreadsheet, not a vision board: four lines, updated fortnightly, reviewed once a week. The players who develop themselves all carry a version of it.

So instead of telling you what's inside — let me teach you. Two complete teachings, free. Use them this week. ↓

The control test

'Score more goals' can punish a good performance and reward a bad one — you don't control it. 'Ten brave 1v1s.' 'A scan before every receive.' Those you own completely, you can count them, and selection can't touch them.

The test: could you hit this goal in a game your team loses 4–0? If no, it's an outcome wish — rewrite it until yes. Dreams point the direction; controllable goals do the driving.

The two-question review

After every game: what went worse that I could CONTROL — and what does it tell me to train? Not 'the ref', not 'I was terrible'. The control filter kills excuses and self-destruction in the same move.

Was the touch worse, or did fewer balls come? Effort down, or positioning? Specific beats emotional every time — and the answer feeds directly into next fortnight's focus.

The review — demonstrated

SUGGESTION — post-game debrief clip: verdicts redirected to controllables, the shift visible in the player's answers.

The whole road, concise

That's two pieces of the road — yours free. Here's the rest of it, stage by stage. The depth, the exact progressions and the day-by-day plans live inside.

Stage 1 · GoalsThe controllable bank

The control test becomes a goal bank by position and age — effort targets, behaviour counts, and the season direction line above them.

Opened inside: the controllable-goal banks and the direction-setting exercise done right.

Stage 2 · The fortnight engineOne thing at a time

Why one focus beats five, the fortnight sequencing that stacks 26 focused blocks into a season, and the training slots that make it real.

Opened inside: the sequencing templates and the one-thing week planner.

Stage 3 · Review and videoThe honest mirror

The two-question review as a weekly ritual, plus the video method: one behaviour, one half, one tally — development instead of highlights and despair.

Opened inside: the review templates and the counted-video system with weekly examples.

Does training like this actually work?

Coach Joe played professionally in Europe and has spent over ten years coaching 1-on-1. Two brothers from one family trained with him for 500+ sessions — one is in New Zealand's squad for the 2026 World Cup, the other fought his way back to professional football twice. The same detail-first sessions this journey is built from.

Wherever you are on this road tonight — the next step is the same one they took: keep going deeper. ↓

Every question answered inside

No answers here — the answers live inside. Just so you know what you're getting:

  • What's a controllable goal for a defender / midfielder / attacker?
  • How do I set a three-month goal that survives the season?
  • Why does one focus beat training everything at once?
  • What should a player write down after a game?
  • How do I review without becoming negative?
  • How should a player watch their own match video?
  • How do parents help with the plan without owning it?
  • How do I know if the plan is working?

Isn't planning boring compared to just training more?

The plan takes four lines and thirty seconds a week — it's not paperwork, it's aim. Same training hours, pointed at one thing at a time, compound completely differently.

What age is this for?

Roughly 11–16+. Younger players run it with a parent as scribe; the goal is the player owning all four lines by mid-teens.

You came in with a dream and no Tuesday. You're leaving with the control test and the two-question review — free. Inside: the goal banks, the fortnight engine, and the four-line plan that turns ambition into a season.
